This isn’t your typical story. This is a story of resilience, generosity, and the ultimate in self-lessness.

Jincy’s story started in a chaotic house… with four brothers and sisters. She was second in line, but somehow felt like a twin to her older sister, Jessica, and younger brother Josh. She was named after her grandmother, who had 14 children. So maybe it was fitting she was surrounded by so much love. Her family started in Naples, Florida where she played soccer and took up figure skating, but after moving to St. Louis, and at the age of 10, found a love for hockey. She moved to Boston at the age of 16 and was the youngest female player ever to try out for the US national team for Sochi. She was cut. Something that she still looks back on to this day. But this setback, also propelled her career. Going back to St. Louis, she was the first girl to make a tier 1 boys team and played with her brother, Josh, where she worked hard, put her ego aside and lifted people up. A great leader, even amongst the guys. She was motivated to go further, but not without so many hurdles.

Jincy struggled to make the Olympic roster between 2014 and 2022. She was afraid. She would show up for camps feeling sick, foggy headed, and physical shaking. She decided to figure out what was really going on. Something that some athletes never have the courage to face. Jincy discovered she was having some traumatic response to events that took place with coaches and teammates early in her hockey career. She didn’t let a lot of people in outside of her family growing up. They didn’t get to see the fun, playful side of her. And dealing with this trauma changed everything for her.

She was recruited by many colleges but chose Ohio State University where she was captain all five years of her career there. She was a 3x All-American and won the Big Ten Medal of Honor in her senior year. She made the US Olympic team in 2022 but dealt with some adversity along the way. This was where she really became strong in her faith. She felt lonely, overlooked, and was crushed so many times. She was promised things that were never delivered on, but she learned to be there for everyone around her as a way to heal herself. She became fiercely loyal and people who know her know that they can trust and depend on her. She’s stubborn in her faith, love, and loyalty.

Jincy feels like a blessing in the lives of others. She often feels like God made her her parents daughter to be the one who watches out for them. She went from twin to “Jin-Mama” when her parents separated, taking care of everyone in the family, leaning on her strength and faith.

She met her now husband in 2022 and their beautiful love story brought them to their wedding in June of 2023. Jincy always told her sister the only last names that went with Jincy were her middle name, Rose, or her last name, Dunne. So, she met a guy with the last name Roese (pronounced “Rose”), and she remains Jincy Dunne-Roese to this day. Jincy knows how to manifest what she desires in life and her amazing and supportive husband was no different.

Jincy has big dreams and feels like her hockey career has only just begun. Her game continues to grow, and she continues to be a player and teammate that makes a significant impact. She was drafted 17th overall by PWHL Ottawa and will be a defensive leader on the team come the league’s inaugural season in early 2024.

But her dreams go beyond hockey. She dreams of singing like Carrie Underwood and Natalie Grant one day. And writing books like Bob Goff and JK Rowlings. She dreams of mission trips and saving people from sex trafficking. She dreams of protecting children around the world and providing them with education and opportunities. She believes it’s all coming… but not for her. For the world around her.

Everything given to her, is a blessing for others. To be their courage, their strength, and their faith.
